What to Learn 👩‍💻

We hosted our first front-end week focusing on web technologies on our Discord recently. Here are a few gems from the same:

  • 👁 If you’re an absolute beginner looking to start web development, we recommend watching this tutorial on developing a basic HTML site. We love the FreeCodeCamp’s various learning paths.

  • 👁 Now we flex a bit? 🏋️‍♀️ Flexbox also known as flexible box is a layout module which efficiently arranges, organizes, and size website elements to create highly adaptive designs. Here’s a fun resource to learn about the working of flexboxes. Read more about flexboxes here in detail.

CSS Grid vs Flexbox: A critique | Hacker Noon
  • 👁 We recommend doing over watching. 🔧🧑🏼‍💻

Check out the list below to practice all the skills that you’ve been learning during the #front-end week. For something perhaps a bit more challenging, check out this for a set of challenges! #KeepCoding

Pinned 📌

  • 🙇‍♀️ We’ve been getting a lot of questions about

Which JS framework should one begin with - is it the React? Vue? Angular?

Though we’d happily recommend based on use cases, we cannot stress enough on the importance of getting the fundamentals of JavaScript right.

What to Watch 📽

  • ▶️ “Information is power. But like all power, there are those who want to keep it for themselves” - Swartz
Here’s an interesting documentary about Aaron Swartz —the internet activist and programmer who advocated to make information available to all.

  • ▶️ We love CRED Curious. Here’s a good one between Kunal Shah and Nithin Kamath of Zerodha on building a bootstrapped business(a company built from the ground up with nothing but personal savings!). We recommend this channel for some seriously interesting content.

Heard about our first TownHall? 🏛

On 7th November, we had our very first Townhall in Airmeet. Our guest, Joby from Truecaller shared his experience as a Product Manager working with the AdTech. He also had insights to share on handling data along with Abid Aboobaker. Here’s the list of curated resources he promised he’d share to help you get ahead with some serious data crunching.

Sruthi narrates her first hackathon experience 👩🏻‍💻

At least some of us still get apprehensive and anxious about participating in hackathons. Are we reaaaaally good enough? Do we have the skill sets to build something? What if we are unable to showcase anything? — pretty sure as participants at least some of us have thought along those lines at some point.
Sruthi did too — until she and her friends completed their first hackathon with Hack Kochi 3.0. Read more about her experience here.

That’s all folks! Until next time. 👋🧡
