🎃 Revolutionizing October: A Montage of Memorable Moments October
Greetings from TinkerSpace!
Another month has flown by, with technology continuing to shape our shared journey. Let’s venture into the highlights that made this month memorable:
1. Hactoberfest at CUSAT (October 7th) Hosted by the Student Association of Information Technology of CUSAT, Hacktoberfest spanned the entire month, welcoming tech enthusiasts to delve into the open-source realm. This gathering was an excellent opportunity for beginners to get acquainted with a Git-based workflow. Topics covered included the Corona Safe Network, the significance of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS), and comprehensive workshops on GitLab. A healthy mix of learning, networking, and implementation made this an enriching experience for all.
2. CodeCraft: A Flask Hackathon (October 14th) Organized by TinkerHub AISAT, this hackathon targeted first-year college students, offering them a chance to break away from conventional learning. Centered around the Flask framework, participants endeavored to create applications like weather detection apps and to-do lists. This venture aimed not just at fostering coding skills but also inculcating the spirit of innovation among budding tech minds.
3. Localization KICKOFF (October 10th) In collaboration with the T4G Impact Tech Foundation, this event aimed at enhancing the Malayalam localization for popular platforms like Mozilla Firefox & Kobo Toolbox. Ensuring a user-friendly browsing experience for Malayalam-speaking users is pivotal, and this session marked a significant step toward that goal.
4. Introduction to Beckn Protocol (October 24th) In an eye-opening workshop conducted by the Foundation for Interoperability in Digital Economy, attendees were introduced to the Beckn Protocol - a transformative open protocol, drawing parallels with HTTP and SMTP in its potential. Beckn Protocol is envisioned to break down the barriers between applications, allowing seamless interoperability and fluid data exchanges, which will pave the way for a more connected and decentralized digital future. Faiz Muhammed, the key facilitator, emphasized the pivotal role Beckn can play in evolving diverse sectors, from finance to healthcare, by promoting cross-platform communication.
5. My Story Session with Nikhil Dharman (October 27th) Organized by TiE Kerala, this session was an intimate reflection on the journey of Nikhil Dharman, the CTO at Algorithma DigiTech Pvt Ltd. Such sessions are a treasure trove of insights, encapsulating the trials, tribulations, and triumphs of entrepreneurs.
6. Monthly Meetup with CNCFKOCHI & AWSUGKOCHI (October 28th) A dual-speaker event that delved deep into the realm of cloud-native architectures and AWS solutions. Topics included architecting reliable software in the cloud-native era and deployment strategies on Amazon ECS. Krishnadas K P, Nitin Gopi, and Paul Sony led these discussions, offering valuable takeaways for the audience.
7. 🔍 MakerChat0x19: Introduction to Electric Vehicle Inverter (October 7th) Electric vehicles (EVs) are steering the world towards a greener future, and a key component driving this change is the EV inverter. The MakerChat0x19 session was a deep dive into the working of electric vehicle inverters. Attendees had the unique opportunity to unravel the intricacies of inverter design, switch selection, field-oriented control, and modulation signal generation. The cherry on top? An exclusive session on modeling the inverter using Matlab Simulink. This event, organized by MakerGram and hosted at TinkerSpace, witnessed a riveting blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills, offering a comprehensive learning experience for all.
🔮 November: The Gateway to Tomorrow’s Tech
1. MakerChat 0x1A: Building a Magic Wand (November 4th) Anticipate a captivating journey where attendees will merge technology and magic, creating a Harry Potter-style wand. This event by MakerGram is set to be a delightful blend of fantasy and tech, highlighting TinyML, the Seeed XIAO nRF52840 Sense microcontroller, and more.
2. HackFake Hackathon (November 11th and 12th) In an age where misinformation can sway opinions, change decisions, and even influence elections, the urgency to combat digital falsehoods has never been greater. Organized by the Citizen Digital Foundation and TinkerHub Foundation, the HackFake Hackathon is a clarion call to students and tech enthusiasts to devise innovative technological solutions that can detect, counteract, and prevent the spread of misinformation. This is not just a challenge—it’s a movement towards a more informed digital populace. The culmination of this hackathon is anticipated to be a tool or solution that, after expert revisions, can serve as a beacon of truth in the digital realm.
3. Wit Facilitators Meetup (November 18th) TinkerHub Foundation is organizing a meetup for women in tech facilitators across 53 campuses. A much-needed initiative to bolster the presence of women in the technology sector.

Generative AI Conference (November 25th and 26th) Hosted by TinkerHub Foundation, the Generative AI Conference promises to be a deep dive into one of the most exciting realms of artificial intelligence. Generative AI, with its ability to create content, from art to music, to even simulating human-like text, stands at the intersection of creativity and technology. This conference will unravel the mechanics behind this fascinating AI subset, explore its potential applications, and discuss the ethical implications of AI-generated content. With a stellar lineup of speakers, hands-on workshops, and intense discussions, this event aims to demystify the magic behind Generative AI and present a roadmap for its ethical and innovative use.
